Chaney is Recognized in Excellence for Mineral Mine Safety and Reclamation
Author: Megan Joy
Chaney Enterprises was proud to be recognized by the Virginia Department of Energy (Virginia Energy) during the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) Annual Meeting.
Each year, Virginia Energy and VTCA honor mineral mine operators who go above and beyond regulatory requirements to protect workers, restore land, and contribute to the Commonwealth’s economy and environment. These awards highlight what responsible mineral mining looks like prioritizing safety, land stewardship, and community impact.
In 2024, Virginia’s mineral mining operations produced more than 70 million tons of materials valued at $1.9 billion, employed over 10,000 Virginians, and reclaimed nearly 1,500 acres of land.
As part of the 2025 Mineral Mine Reclamation Awards, three non-quarry sand and gravel operations were selected for exemplary land restoration following mineral extraction. These projects stood out for their strong environmental planning, collaboration with local partners, and long-term vision for land reuse through grading, seeding, erosion control, and productive repurposing.
For Chaney Enterprises, this recognition reinforces our commitment to operating responsibly and sustainably. From prioritizing the safety of our team members to restoring mined lands for future use, we are proud to set a high standard for operational excellence and environmental stewardship in Virginia’s mineral mining industry.
